A new film school alternative for the dreamers that do.

STOP DREAMING & START FILMING

Making a movie is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do—and totally worth it.
Fearless Indie Filmmaker is a self-paced digital program designed to equip you not only with the practical knowledge you need to feel empowered as an indie filmmaker, but with the much-needed emotional resilience and creative confidence, too.

The Hero’s Journey

Unlike production courses that try catering broadly to filmmakers and commercial videographers, Fearless Indie Filmmaker is designed specifically for you, the aspiring narrative producer/director. That means that we focus on skills and topics that matter to you, including niche topics such as editing fight scenes or fabricating props. We don’t waste your time talking about how to film real estate videos or generate leads—there are other resources for that. Fearless Indie Filmmaker has one purpose: to help you stop making excuses and start making your movie.

Show, Don’t Tell

Ever heard the adage “those who can’t do, teach”? In an era oversaturated with digital courses, that just might be true. That’s why we set out to produce this program concurrently with our own narrative production. In Fearless Indie Filmmaker, we don’t just tell you about filmmaking. We show you our process, from pre-production through post, pulling back the curtain so you can learn behind-the-scenes on a real film. And, yes—that even means you get to learn from our mistakes.

(PS: this content of this program is 100% human-generated. Because if you wanted to learn filmmaking from an AI, you could have asked ChatGPT yourself!)

How becoming Fearless can help you overcome these common obstacles:

We’ll show you how to find the right people for your corner—and get them excited for your passion project.

Learn how to rewrite like a producer—creatively developing your script’s logistics from story to screen.

The unglamorous details will actually set your indie production apart—handle them like a boss.

Demystify production costs by getting a declassified look at our production budget—with real numbers.

“I lack experience directing actors.”

Virtually shadow a director and learn to give notes that get results through candid footage of private rehearsals with talent.

“I’m trapped in post-production limbo.”

Post is where a vast number of indie films go to die. We’re here to show you not just how to film your movie—but how to actually finish it.

According to the Dunning-Kruger theory…

There are two ways to become fearless at something. The first is to be ignorantly overconfident. The second is to actually get good at it.
If you’re still reading this, chances are you’re not fearless—yet. See, you already know some stuff (go you!). In fact, you know enough to realize how much you still don’t know.  You’re in the big, swampy middle of your own story. And that’s the scary part.

Your Dreams Don’t Work Unless You Do

I know about the swampy middle, because I’ve been there. For years, I stayed paralyzed in that swamp of conscious ignorance. I played it safe. I eked out a decade-long career as a freelance videographer and shot about a million talking head videos for vet clinics and carpet cleaning services. I co-produced other people’s passion projects (and then watched those people leap-frog light years ahead of me). I wrote ambitious scripts and taught writing to students and even published an award-winning novel.

But I wasn’t fearless. I was terrified. Of moving forward. Of failing. Of finally directing my own movie.

“Pain is Temporary, Film is Forever.”

Finally, I had an epiphany: the only way forward for me was to ditch my perfectionism, embrace the pain, and keep learning. But this wouldn’t be easy, sanitized learning. This would be brave, messy, Film-School-of-Hard-Knocks learning.

That day, two things entered the world—small, half-formed, and squalling like baby birds: my confidence, and what would become this program. If my story resonates with you, then welcome. You are the “Fearless Indie Filmmaker” this program was named for—even if you don’t feel like it yet.

Lights… Camera… Take Action

Filmmaking is hard. It’s expensive, it’s complicated, it’s fraught with setbacks. You probably won’t enjoy making movies if you don’t kinda secretly like the taste of dirt (no judgement, we do too). Any movie that ever gets made is—in the most beautiful way—its own miracle.

But that’s what makes movies magical. That intangible glimmer of cinema has been summoning people for decades, from all over the world, compelling us to chase a shared dream and smile through every skinned knee along the way. If you hear that siren call, too—and you’re ready to put in the work—then Fearless Indie Filmmaker is just for you.
